The Regulator clock, from which this watch is derived, is a concept with origins in the 18th century and was introduced as the most accurate method of timekeeping.
Its essential feature was the off-center hour hand designed to ingeniously prevent the hand from obscuring the small seconds for several hours each day; thus allowing for the most precise reading of time.
This watch, a development of that theme, was introduced in 1992 to capitalize on the collector market for oversize, unique design watches with vintage movements.
The wonderful tonneau shaped mechanical movement was originally made by Fountainemelon in 1932. In 1990, Chronoswiss were able to acquire these "new old stock" movements, enabling them to complete a limited edition of 650 of which this is number 408.
This watch is covered by Atlas Fine Watches one year mechanical guarantee.
